Why Locals Love it

Adelaide is a glorious city with great food and wine. Not too fast paced, it offers something for everyone. 20-30 minutes from the city you can find the beach, the hills, and the country.

Cafes and Coffee

There are so many great places. Here are a few that won’t disappoint:

Food

  • 2KW |  located at the top of 2 King William Street, this great bar/restaurant is a favourite. Views over the City, Government House, Adelaide Oval. A great place rain, hail or shine. Equally fancy and laid back. Also suitable for nightlife.
  • Africola | it’s won awards for a reason. Very relaxed and even more delicious.  Don’t miss it!
  • Osterias Oggi | the best pizza in town!
  • Shobosho | a Japanese culinary experience.
  • Leigh Street Wine Room | a greats sport to meet friends for a relaxed fun night out.
  • Golden Boy | amazing Thai
  • East End Cellars | a favorite for Alicia. Head to the tasting room for delicious food paired with good wine.
  • Chianti | really great Italian. Have the dessert.
  • NNQ VIETNAMESE| delicious Vietnamese.
  • Peel Street Restaurant | simply the best!
  • Bread & Bone | For tasty burgers

Exercise

There are some beautiful esplanade walks by the beach – Glenelg to Seacliff Coastal Walk and any variation in between. It’s mostly flat. Some other great walking trails are listed below:

Sunrise and Sunset

Catch the sunset anywhere along the esplanade from Grange to Seacliff. Mt Lofty would likely be a good spot too, due to its elevation. Head to My Lofty for sunrise.

Wineries

South Australia has some of the best wine regions, stunning views and unique experiences to offer.  Adelaide Hills are famous for white wine and bubbles. This is our Locals favorite area to visit.  Sidewood Estate offers a sabrage masterclass which is amazing. Highly recommend this to anyone wanting a unique experience.

Barossa Valley (Barossa Cabernets and Shiraz’ are great)

Clare Valley | offers a world class riesling trail, that doubles as a fun activity where you can cycle between wineries.

McLaren Vale | (world class Shiraz, Grenache, Cab Sav and chardonnay). Also very close by to the beach and Pizzateca & Russell’s Pizza.

Coonawarra | a great place to try and buy bold reds

Nightlife

There are two great streets of bars and restaurants, located off of Hindley Street and close to Rundle Mall. Here are our Locals favorites.

Peel Street, Adelaide

Leigh Street, Adelaide

  • Pink Moon Saloon | good selection of wines and small plates
  • Udaberri | delicious share plates  and a great spot to settle in for a night out with friends. Open till late
  • Casablabla | great tapas!
  • Plain Jane | more great tapas and a fun vibe.

Paid Tours

Head to Kangaroo Island by ferry. A beautiful spot, savaged by fire in 2020, Kangaroo Island offers a great deal. Ideally stay for multiple days, but if you are strapped for time it could be done in one day. Read here to find out more about how to make your way there.
